【木の特ちょう―大輪の花】
原爆から蘇った木の中には、こんなにあでやかな花もあります。お寺の境内で被爆し、地上に出ていた部分はすべて焼けました。一時は枯れたと思われていましたが、一本だけ生き残ったボタンが命を吹き返しました。その芽を苗木に育て、株分けされて、境内の数か所に移植されています。今では毎年初夏、ピンク色の花を咲かせます。（被爆70年目の2015年５月撮影）
【被爆を伝える】
爆心地から近いこの辺り一帯は焼け野原、がれきの山と化し、本堂などの建物は焼失しました。今、このお寺には当時の記憶のある人はもういらっしゃらないそうですが、被爆後にこのボタンを大切に育てていらしたご家族の意志を継ぎ、若い人たちがボタンを守っています。

【木の特ちょう―株立ち】
＜株立ち＞とは、根元から幹（みき）が何本にも分かれて伸びる特ちょうのことです。このクロガネモチは爆心地から近く、原爆によって、幹や枝など地上部がほとんど消失しました。かろうじて残った根元から芽吹いたため、何本もの新芽が伸びたと考えられています。静かな庭園の中に立つ夫婦被爆樹。左が雌木(めぎ)で、右が雄木(おぎ)。枝葉も幹も失った木は翌年の春、芽を吹き返しました。2015年４月撮影
【被爆を伝える】
金龍寺は１６３２(寛永９)年、開山した禅寺。原爆投下後、山門、鐘楼、寺宝、記録など一切が消失しました。現在の建物は２０００（平成１２）年に再々建されたものです。
【この木に会いに行こう！】
路面電車「中電前」で下車、徒歩８分。木のちょうど裏手にまわると、根の切り口が銅製のフタでかぶせてあります。そのフタを手のひらでなでながら、長寿・厄除けを祈願すると願いが叶うと、参拝者の中から自然に広がっていきました。木の名前にちなみ、金運を祈る人もいるとか...。

Two Kurogane hollies survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, about 940m from the hypocenter. The trees were burned by the atomic bombing, but a tree survived. There is this tree in Kinryuji-temple. The temple was established in 1632, but all was lost by the atomic bomb.. It was rebuilt in concrete. It was the anniversary year of the foundation 370 years of the temple . Apr,2015 Shooting

太田川が流れる河原のそば、住宅街の中に立つクスノキ。この木がかつて、枯れ木同然となったことを想像するのは難しい。しかし、1945年8月6日、朝8時15分、原爆投下。爆心地から約1キロの住宅地の中に立っていたクスノキは瞬時に焼かれ、幹は根元近くまでを失い、黒焦げの無残な姿となった。表面温度摂氏約3000～4000度の熱線と放射能が地上を襲ったのだ。そのとき、人は......。

Near the Oota River , this camphor tree is standing in the residential area. I can not think that this tree was in the atomic bomb. At 8:15 a.m, August 6,1945,This Camphor was burned by the blazing heat of the atomic bomb.So this sight rekindled courage and hope in many who were close to despair.

春の象徴のように咲くこの花は「被爆桜」。原爆投下、翌年の春、３本が芽吹きました。一般に、ソメイヨシノの寿命は60年といわれています。だから、このサクラは戦後70年を生き延びて、さらに寿命よりも長く生きていることになります。2015年４月撮影

This cherry tree is called "Hibaku-Zakura (Atomic bombed cherry) ". Located in front of the city hall of Hiroshima. There are three A-bombed cherry trees--2 on the north and 1 on the south sides. Yoshino cherry of life is said to be 60 years. After the war 70 years, it is alive. Trees are living a long life. Apr,2015 Shooting

【木の特ちょう―幹にウロがある】
夏、濃いピンク色の花を咲かせるサルスベリ。花期が長く、約100日間も咲き続けることから、漢名「百日紅」と名づけられています。この美しい花が黒焦げの廃墟と化したヒロシマの街に咲いたとき、、どれほど力強く、輝きに満ちて、目に映ったことでしょうか。花のいのちの色は、人々に生きる力と希望をもたらしたと伝えられています。サルスベリは境内西側で被爆、1992（平成4）年、本堂の改築に伴い、現在の場所に移植されました。幹にはウロがあり、斜めに傾く姿が痛々しいですが、老木のため、徐々に傾いていったそうです。2016年８月撮影
【被爆を伝える】
原爆によって、当時の住職を失い、伽藍は全焼壊滅、御門徒の人々も四散して、寺は存亡の危機を迎えました。しかし、戦後、皆で復興に力を注ぎ、本堂や庫裡などの再建を遂げたそうです。ご住職の中山さんによると、一時、この木は枯れかかったことあるそうです。「だんだん弱り、もうだめかと思った年もあり、絵に残しておこうと、画家の入野忠芳先生に描いていただきました。しかし、その翌年の春には芽を出し、ほっと安心しました。今も毎年、夏になると、鮮やかなピンク色の花を咲かせてくれますよ」。
